When it comes to doctrine, culture, preferences, traditions, lifestyles, politics, behavior, etc., Mars Hill Church takes a “closed-hand/open-hand” approach. The closed hand hangs onto the non-negotiable tenets of Christian orthodoxy: sin is the problem, Jesus is the answer, the Bible is true, and Hell is hot. The open hand, however, allows room for differences when it comes to secondary matters.
When the apostle Paul stood atop Mars Hill, he proclaimed good news to a diverse people steeped in philosophy, culture, and spirituality. Mars Hill Church seeks to continue that legacy in modern-day Seattle. Our city is a place much like first-century Athens: a marketplace of ideas, a vibrant arts community, and a metropolitan hub.
Located in Belltown on the corner of 2333 Western Ave and Battery St, the Downtown Campus serves the city core.
Who we are, and what we believe, inform how we live in the time and place God has placed us. Beyond Sunday services, Mars Hill Church follows the biblical model of getting together midweek in Community Groups to share lives together in the mission God has given us. Guests become members of our church family and enjoy teaching and equipping to love and serve others like Jesus.
