Recently, Pastor Tim had the opportunity to moderate a mayoral forum between the two candidates running for Mayor of Seattle; Mike McGinn and Joe Mallahan. During the forum he was able to connect with the candidates while discussing and debating key Belltown topics, the viaduct, and other pertinent civic issues.

Serving The City

At Mars Hill Downtown, we love being a part of what’s happening in Seattle and being engaged as a community in the different aspects of the city not because we are political, but because we want to love and serve the city as Jesus did. The Downtown Campus has a huge desire to be involved with and actively connected to our leaders.

Jesus is continuing to build His church at Mars Hill Downtown through ministries like Gateway where people are free to come and ask questions about Him. This past Sunday, several Downtowners responded to God’s initiation in their lives by getting baptized. We are thankful that God is allowing our church to participate in the work that He is doing in the city.

A New Belltown Neighborhood Café

Mars Hill Downtowner, Billy Bones, was featured on King 5 this week promoting New Horizons Ministries new café, Street Bean Espresso. Street Bean Espresso will be on mission in the city by means of serving the young, marginalized, homeless population of Seattle through employment. These jobs will provide some the opportunity to leave lives of drugs, prostitution, and life on the street. Street Bean will be a part of New Horizon’s undertaking to not only tell of the life-transforming power of Christ, but to also tangibly serve like Him in deed and truth (1 John 3:18). What an awesome opportunity for the city to behold God’s glory in individuals’ lives! Click here to watch the video.
