Haiti Benefit Concert
Haiti Benefit – A Night of Worship and Prayer
“Rejoice with those who rejoice and mourn with those who mourn.” –Romans 12:15
On Saturday, January 30, Mars Hill Downtown will host a benefit concert for survivors of the Haiti earthquake—a night of prayer and worship featuring Mars Hill bands including Ghost Ship, Ex Nihilo, and Brothers of the Empty Tomb.
When many of us first saw the devastation from the earthquake in Haiti we wanted to immediately hop a plane and help those suffering. Then seeing photos and video that Pastor Mark brought back—particularly of the Haitian churches—was heartbreaking.
Though we live in different countries, the Christians in Haiti are our brothers and sisters, which means their business is our business; their pain is our pain. We are one body in Christ, and the Apostle Paul said, “If one member suffers, all the members suffer with it” (1 Cor 12:26).
Inevitably, most of us won’t actually travel to Haiti to assist and pray for people in person. But it is important that not only we as a Mars Hill community but also we as a Seattle community come together to unite in prayer and mourn for those who mourn. Let’s come together as a community—as a city—to help our friends.
Our goal is to raise thousands of dollars for the relief efforts while also lifting our prayers for those in Haiti. Here are the details for the concert:
- Saturday January 30 at 7:30 PM
- Mars Hill Downtown (2333 Western Ave)
- Featuring Mars Hill bands Ghost Ship, Ex Nihilo, Brothers of the Empty Tomb
- $15 minimum donation
- All proceeds go to Churches Helping Churches, working to complement humanitarian organizations in the rebuilding of Haitian churches
