Working Towards Building a Great City
What We’re Striving For
Since we began Mars Hill Downtown, we’ve talked about not just wanting to build a great church that will worship Jesus, but working towards building a great city that will worship Jesus. In Scripture we see that we started in a Garden (Gen 1) but the pinnacle of redemption is Christians worshipping Jesus in a city (Rev 21). We are working towards that end at Mars Hill Downtown, that we are a city within a city, working towards improving the vitality and civility of our city for the glory of God.
With that vision in mind, we want to continue to rally people to this mission of serving and loving our city and understanding what that looks like and how we can help. We want to be civically engaged for the glory of God.
How Can We Do This?
This week’s After the Six is our first Town Hall discussion in the lounge after the 6pm service. Joining us will be Seattle City Council member Bruce Harrell, who will share the vision for the City of Seattle as well as providing great opportunity to ask questions and gain insights into how we can best serve the city.
