It is Fall and the smell of Redemption Group is in the air.
As many of you may know, Mars Hill pastors have been hard at work for many months devising a new curriculum to bring the gospel into the nitty gritty of our lives. The work was intended to be used in a small-group context, known as Redemption Group, which I am happy to say are (at long last) making their debut this very weekend.
“What the heck is a Redemption Group, anyway?”
At Mars Hill, we hope you will live out most of the struggles and pains of sanctification in Community Group, i.e., in ongoing fellowship with others who are also being made more and more into the image of Jesus Christ (2 Cor 3:18). Redemption Group is for when that regular process, for whatever reason, gets “stuck.” Your constant crises are pushing people away; you are secretly enslaved to something; you cannot bear to let anyone in; you know something is wrong but nobody can figure it out. In Redemption Group, you and a handful of others are coming together, in need, for a few (9) short weeks, to bring the gospel intensely to bear on some area of your heart.
“They’re already full? How come I didn’t get to sign up?”
Unfortunately, Redemption Groups were full before they even formed, being populated from a long-standing wait-list. Argh, the perennial wait-list. So if they are already full then why am I even bringing this up?
Enter Redemption Night. Beginning with the weekend intensive (Oct 3-4) and continuing on Tuesday evenings throughout the Fall, anyone is welcome to come and hear the Redemption teaching and follow along in the curriculum. This is open to leaders, members, or anyone else attending Mars Hill. After the teaching and worship time there will be a couple ways for you to connect with others to discuss the material.
You can find a few more details in the City Event. Although Redemption Night is open to everyone, please register so we know who to expect.
If you are interested in future participation in a “closed” Redemption Group, and can’t get enough of wait-lists, please email me, Kirk McKelvey: kirk@marshillchurch.org or cmail me.
Thanks, and I hope to see you there!
