MHC|Downtown = Kite in God’s Hurricane

For those present at the core group launch on Sunday, it made no difference that the video stream died at the end of the service because God through His Holy Spirit (or the wing man, as John Piper put it last night) was present, active and moving in our midst all day long. Throughout the day, hands were raised, tears shed and knees trembled because of the goodness of our Savior Jesus Christ who not only took a building used to perpetuate sin and build His church out of it but also took our lives which were broken by sin and redeemed them!

It was amazing to see 362 committed core groupers show up….imagine what God can do through all of us who are on-board for the same mission. It reminds me of the line in Jaws, when Roy Scheider witnesses the shark for the first time….”we’re going to need a bigger boat.” We are being called to something much bigger then ourselves and it’s a calling which requires us to conform to the image of the Son in every way and to answer the call of servant leadership that has been placed on us.

posterAs we move towards the public launch and Grand Opening on March 16th continue to be in fervent prayer, continue seeking the calling God has on your life, and be thinking about which people in your life need to hear the message of the Cross. Who do you know that needs to be in real community and needs to come to a new church in the city on March 16th. We’ll see all of you this Sunday, March 2nd, 10am and 6pm services, as we continue to prepare the campus for the city.

Matthew 16:18 - “I will build My Church and the gates of hell will not prevail against it” - Jesus

Items for this week:

Introducing yourself to someone you don’t know can be an intimidating thing, especially when they introduce themselves first with concrete cracking confidence. Meeting people can be overwhelming as well when you walk away from post service hang time trying to remember the names of the seventeen people you just met and are now going [...]
